Martin Tétreault is a turntable player and improviser from Montreal. In his current work, he’s less inclined toward quotation and collage and more interested in playing the machines themselves. Tétreault modifies his turntables to create a grainy, textured sound, adding multiple tone arms to his equipment, altering the motors, and dropping the needle directly on the platter.

Here, in his first U.S. performance, he plays with Jim O’Rourke and tabletop guitarist Kevin Drumm.

Martin Tétreault (b.1957, Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Quebec, Canada) is a turntable player, improviser, sound designer, and visual artist. As a member of Ambiances Magnétiques, Montreal’s influential new music collective, he has played with Michel F Côté, René Lussier, Diane Labrosse and Jean Derome. Recent collaborations include projects with Ikue Mori, Sachiko M. and Otomo Yoshihide.
